Hey Steve 04:10
(spoken) Hey Steve, I don’t want you to worry. It’s all gonna be just fine. Hey Steve, make it bad Blame it all on the weather Brace for the wind, storm on the hill You’re better off alone Better off alone in all this Hey Steve Hey Steve, say you’re mad Take it down in a letter Turn it around, kick up the dust Are you still alone Are you still alone in all this Hey Steve [chorus] When you’re older When you’re older When you know your mind, oh Will it make you Will it break you down Hey Steve Hey Steve, don’t be mad You are one born forgetter Turn it around, kick up the dust Are you still alone Are you still alone in all this Hey Steve [chorus] Hey Steve Will it break you down When you’re older

Come on boy, it’s your season Don’t you even ask for my situation ‘Cause every man has got his reason Ain’t that a bitch? So someone told you you’re special You know you are, especially ‘round here So walk with your head high I ain’t gonna tell you you’re special, but you are Ain’t that a bitch Well I’ve been thinkin’ about what happens next The time has come to prove it to you ‘Cause every man in the place is watchin’ Fight, flight or fuck or play the fool Baby, ain’t that a bitch So come on over here, pull up a chair Make yourself at home Everybody’s got their story don’t you know I don’t wanna hear you cryin’ no more Well I’ve been thinkin’ about what happens next The time has come to prove it to you ‘Cause every man in the place is watchin’ Fight, flight or fuck or play the fool Baby, ain’t that a bitch

Leaving Portland is such a lonely guy He can’t tell his story, so we’ll give it a try You see he must have loved somebody Where there’s a will there’s a why He was no dummy, he knew how to travel light On thanksgiving, you can get a cheap flight And in seat 18C he wore sunglasses at night And a tie He wrote the stewardess a note, (her name was Flo) And she dropped it in her purse (oh no) She thought it was his number (was she looking for love) But she never loved the man Cuz he had a different plan “Miss you better take a look at that note…” Bourbon and soda and a half a pack of smokes He was no Che Guevara in his lightweight raincoat His tie was clip-on He politely paid his tab, and barely spoke 200,000 in unmarked bills ‘ Four parachutes and a fuel refill Florence told the pilots And DB Cooper had another smoke It was a windy northwest night (November) When 305 took flight (it always rains) Florence caught a glimpse of the homemade bomb (in his briefcase) By the time that plane touched down Cash was waiting on the ground And the passengers deplaned, unaware But she never loved the man So she never broke her heart And she never tumbled spiraling into the dark So she watched the jetway lights As the wheels left the ground And she knew she’d always wanted a safe….. place to land Back in the air, 10,000 feet high The cabin shuddered, air pressure warning lights No one saw his body falling through the night One chute may have opened, the other was a fake He may have touched the ground, and missed the frozen lake Fate is uncertain – was it a mistake? So we’ll always love the man (love the man) Who dares a different plan (different plan) And if only for a minute he can fly (flyyyyy) And everything we know (on a riverbank) Even all the dough (rotten from the worms) Washes down and buries without a trace Now he spends his life alone (he’ll die alone) No kingdom - just a throne (all alone) And he waits for the worms like the rest of us In the sands of what you’ve done Were you hurting anyone Did you pay for your drinks or did you keep your cash in a safe dry place?

Bayocean 04:45
Bayocean City by the sea Gonna take it back What you took from me I came out in 1908 To buy a piece of Paradise And open up a general store They had a fancy yacht To bring the people down from Portland Until the roads came to the shore Bayocean City by the sea Gonna take it back What you took from me They built a jetty to the north To make the journey safe They said we needed two but the price was too steep The Army Corps of Engineers warned us it would change the tides We could have saved our town but we were just too cheap The last house fell In that great storm swell It took the post office, the dance hall and what was left of the hotel And then in ’53 it took your health as well I watched my paradise turn to hell If I could stay Oh if I could stay I'd move heaven and earth Before it all gets swept away This is my home Here's where I belong And I'll be damned if I can't make it right Before it all goes wrong Now I'm out here every day With my wheelbarrow and spade Building back my dream that washed away Sand, earth and till Will bend to my will The ocean is a beast that I can tame Bayocean I remember when Gonna take it back Make it great again Bayocean City by the sea Gonna take it back What you took from me If I could stay Oh if I could stay I'd move heaven and earth Before it all gets swept away This is my home Here's where I belong And I'll be damned if I can't make it right Before it all goes wrong

Last night, I said these words to my girl I know how hard you’ve been tryin’ You’d walk a mile, But you’re not on trial With me ‘Cause I don’t want you down on your knees for me It’s tough in this world, but it’s harder inside For some folks it’s easier to please somebody But here’s something else, Just please yourself For me ‘Cause I don’t want you down on your knees for me So many lovers in this cruel and lonely world Come to you thinking you’ll give it for free But when they want your touch Don’t give them too much Take it from me I know there’s something you’d rather do And everyone’s got expectations of you But love that’s not me My loves for free Don’t you know I don’t want you down on your knees For me

Ravoneer 03:19
What did you say that your name was today I’m confused Isn’t everyone my dear But I’ll wait in the light cos tonight You’ll be my Ravoneer Didn’t you fly when the smoke filled the sky that was you You were everywhere that year And we wept as you leapt from your perch And we cried Ravoneer Fixin your eye on the world going by You pick up the scent of the weakest to torment It seems like we’re sharing the same dream Same Dream Or is it a nightmare You shook your shiny black cape for effect And it worked It was so beautiful I shed a tear I could not look away so I stay fixed on my Ravoneer Morbid magician, who really cuts the lady in half Feed my addiction, with a flashlight and a parlor trick No words are needed But you feed me a paragraph Sucking in the casuals Saving them by making them sick Fixin your eye on the world going by You pick up the scent of the weakest to torment It seems like we’re sharing the same dream Same Dream Same Dream… Or is it a nightmare

Where have you gone My good strong son? I know you’re out there somewhere Where is my joy? My reckless boy? I thought you’d always be there I sing the song Our mothers were singing That should never be sung Where is the sound Of freedom ringing What peace has it won? I brought you in With love light shining Into this land Sheltered you from The darkest danger Troubles and strife I sing the song Our mothers were singing That should never be sung Where is the sound Of freedom ringing What peace has it won?

Don’t break my heart I was only joking So don’t break my heart It’s up to you When I was down Where were you hiding Where were you then When I was down Waiting for you All of these wrongs You could be righting Like I told you You don’t need to get down On your knees And beg Just don’t break my heart I was only joking Don’t break my heart It’s up to you When I put you down, down, down I was insane I was crazy mama (When I put you down) Oo, I was a fool I should have just shut up And held you And loved you That’s what you wanted Because girl you don’t need me Mansplaining your problems to you Just don’t break my heart I was only joking Don’t break my heart It’s up to you Don’t break my heart I was only joking But don’t break my heart It’s up to you Don’t break my heart I was only joking It’s tearin’ me apart It’s up to you

Balloon Bomb 01:58
A little girl sits A desk with paper and paste She makes a balloon “We’re so proud of you We all do what we can do Your gift flies today” High on winds above Over an ocean it flies Finding rest in snow A little boy runs “Quick everyone come see it” He’s found a balloon

Canada 05:35
You held your hand for me to take it But I never took the cue You made bread and kept the garden And I paid the debt when it was due They paint lines on the highway To keep me straight and guide me home It seems I’m always pullin in your drive With no idea where I’m goin I've been gone so long Feels like we’re tryin to find a signal On some broken radio Here you go Here I stay You can go if you have to go Back to Canada We’re both staring at the big sky Like we’re supposed to do Stars exploding in the distance Don’t mean a thing to me and you This is long overdue You said your heart was in the country I guess the country broke your heart Here you go Here I stay You can go if you have to go Back to Canada Here you go Here I stay…

about

This 10-song collection explores topics of mythical air pirates, balloon bombs, disappearing towns, manipulative demigods, mansplaining, self-care, and going to Canada. It all ties together, trust us.
